Challenge
For several years, the La Torche site, located in Brittany (Finistère), has been under pressure from both climate change and human activity. The municipality of Plomeur, the Communauté de Communes du Pays Bigouden Sud, and the Conservatoire du Littoral have joined forces to address these challenges and rethink the site’s development. The aim is to improve the visitor experience while ensuring the preservation of natural areas, supporting local uses, promoting good practices, and enhancing year-round accessibility.
Pilot action
The municipality of Plomeur will carry out actions as part of the development of the La Torche site and their evaluation: visitor counting studies underway, implementation of a Nature-based Solution (renaturation process, approach to the problem of the receding coastline), reduction of car pressure through the development of soft mobility, and more respectful visitor behaviour through better knowledge of the site.
