Challenge
O Grove and Bueu are relatively small municipalities, but they host some of the most visited coastal areas in Galicia, including nature reserves, Blue Flag beaches, and popular summer destinations. These territories face a range of structural and seasonal challenges that directly affect visitor mobility and local quality of life, such as seasonal population surges, environmental constraints, dependency on private vehicles, and infrastructure limitations. Addressing these challenges requires prioritising intelligent flow management and alternative mobility solutions.
Pilot action
The pilot actions in O Grove and Bueu aim to improve mobility management in thesecoastal areas by recommending sustainable and intermodal mobility solutions, exploring electric micromobility options to reduce pressure from private vehicles, and providing guidance on parking management systems, including those for motorhomes/campervans and park-and-ride facilities. They also seek to promote sustainable mobility habits among residents, visitors, and local stakeholders; engage local actors in the co-design of innovative mobility solutions; and generate valuable data and insights to support municipal decision-making.
